Akutní komplikace diabetes mellitus

V současnosti je pozornost v péči o diabetiky upřena k prevenci a léčbě pozdních vaskulárních projevů diabetes mellitus (DM). Akutní komplikace však zdaleka nejsou minulostí. Nejčastěji se setkáváme s iatrogenní hypoglykémií, která je komplikací léčby inzulínem nebo perorálními sulfonylureovými antidiabetiky. Akutní metabolická dekompenzace (diabetická ketoacidóza, hyperosmolární hyperglykemický neketotický stav a laktátová acidóza) se může rozvinout natolik, že ohrozí život pacienta. Proto musíme pamatovat i na akutní komplikace DM, které se v průběhu tohoto chronického onemocnění mohou vyskytnout.
