Rizikové a protektivní faktory diabetické retinopatie

Vznik a rozvoj diabetické retinopatie (DR) je ovlivňován množstvím extraokulárních a okulárních rizikových i protektivních faktorů. Neokulární faktory hrají nesporně velkou úlohu v predispozici diabetika k DR. Okulární faktory jsou zřejmě zodpovědné za to jak, kdy a do jaké míry se tato predispozice rozvine. Za nejzávažnější celkové faktory považujeme hy­perglykémii, hypertenzi, hypercholesterolémii a diabetickou nefropatii. V textu jsou zmíněny i další vlivy včetně tě­­hotenství, porodu a early worsening syndrom (EW).
