Předmětem tohoto sdělení není případ, charakterizovaný složitostí diagnostického postupu či ojedinělostí, případně nejednoznačností konečné diagnózy, ale jeho zajímavost spatřujeme v tom, že dokumentuje hloubku metabolického rozvratu, do něhož může organizmus dospět na podkladě poměrně banální příčiny.

Snížený příjem tekutin u starších pacientů je fenomén běžný natolik, že je takřka považován za normu. Následující kazuistika zachycuje příklad toho, do jak extrémního stádia může dospět.
