Chirurgická léčba chlopenních vad se stala zavedenou metodou s klinicky dobrým a trvalým výsledkem se zlepšením prognózy. Vzhledem k pokroku v implantátech i operační technice indikujeme dnes nemocné s počínající dysfunkcí levé komory i při mírnější symptomatologii. Protože se operují stále starší a rizikovější pacienti, jsou výsledky stran časné mortality podobné jako na nejlepších pracovištích před 20 lety.
