Vitamin C patří k nejdůležitějším tématům v oblasti lidské výživy. První zkušenosti o nutnosti doplňování -neznámé- esence ovlivňující zdraví sahají hluboko do lidské minulosti. K akceleraci poznatků o chemicky jednoduché, ale nesmírně významné molekule kyseliny askorbové došlo koncem 19. a v průběhu 20. století. Vitamin C je součástí esenciálních nutrientů nezbytných k zachování řady důležitých fyziologických dějů v lidském organizmu. Protektivní efekt je odvozován především z výsledků epidemiologických studií.

Vitamin C - the essential micronutrient

Vitamin C belongs to the most important topics in human clinical nutrition. The first experience describing the necessity for the substitution of an -unknown- essence influencing health dates back in human history. Knowledge about this chemically simple, but extremely important molecule, named ascorbic acid, accelerated and expanded at the end of the 19th and during the 20th centuries. Vitamin C is one of the essential dietary nutrients necessary to sustain an array of fundamental physiological processes in the human body. Its protective effect has been established mainly from the results of epidemiological trials.
