Cévní mozkové příhody (CMP) jsou třetí nejčastější příčinou smrti ve většině vyspělých zemí a také v České republice. Ultrazvukové (UZ) vyšetření je pro pacienta (povětšinou) neinvazivní, nebolestivá a opakovatelná metodika, přispívající k diagnostice CMP především ischemických, ale i hemoragických. Je podán přehled významu UZ v oblasti vyšetření jak extra­kraniálních, tak i intrakraniálních mozkových tepen.

NEUROSONOLOGY IN STROKE DIAGNOSTICS

Stroke is the third most common cause of death in the majority of the developed countries, and also in the Czech Republic. Ultrasonographic examination is usually non-invasive, indolent, and repeatable method for patients, which contributes to the diagnostics of stroke - mainly ischaemic, but also haemorrhagic one. The role of ultrasonography in the examination of both extracranial, and intracranial brain arteries is being reviewed.
