Nesteroidní antirevmatika (synonymum nesteroidní antiflogistika, NSA) mají široké využití v léčbě akutních i chronických bolestivých syndromů různého původu, zejména vertebrogenních a kloubních, dále ke krátkodobé léčbě pooperační a poúrazové bolesti.

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in therapy of acute headache

Nonsteroidal antirheumatics (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs - NSAIDs) have been widely used in the therapy of acute and chronic painful syndromes of various origin, mainly of vertebrogenic and arthritic ones. Furthermore they have been administered during short-term therapy in postoperative and posttraumatic care.

They are used for their analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effect.

They are extensively exploited in the treatment of some types of cephalea, mainly for their wide offer and low cost. Treatment of mostly acute cervicogenic headache (cervicocranial syndrome) is the most frequent reason for initiation therapy with NSAIDs. There is a threat of developing gastropathy from chronic use of NSAIDs. NSAIDs are utilized for therapy of acute migraine of mild and intermediate intensity too. There has been an attempt to use them for short-term prophylaxis of menstruation migraine. NSAIDs could be recommended as efficient short-term saving therapy tension type headache during decompensation period.
