Cílem článku je stručně shrnout doporučení ke kompenzaci diabetu mellitu. Autorka zdůrazňuje, že diabetes je třeba vidět v celém kontextu metabolického onemocnění, u diabetika je třeba léčit nejen glykémii, ale i hyperlipidémii, krevní tlak a tělesnou hmotnost. Kritéria kompenzace se shodují u obou typů diabetu. Mají za cíl snížit riziko vzniku a progrese pozdních mikro a makrovaskulárních komplikací.

Diabetes Mellitus Compensation - The Goal of Therapy

The aim of this article is to provide a breef summary of recommendations concerning diabetes mellitus compensation. The author emphasizes the importance to deal with this issue from a viewpoint of the whole context of this metabolic disease, that means to deal not only with glykemia, but also hyperlipidemia, blood pressure and body weight. Compensation criteria are the same for both types of diabetes. Their objective is to decrease the risk of occurrence and progress of the late micro and macrovascular complications.
