Psoriasis and contemporary treatment modalities

The author goes in the first part for demographic and social economic aspects of the disease, summarizes the recent opinion of ethiopathogenesis and convays in more details the triggering factors. In the second part she schematically presents the clinical forms of psoriasis and concentrates on therapy. She explains the terms of complex therapy, the regimens of combined, sequential and rotational therapy. In topical therapy she focuses on topical corticosteroids, the therapy available also for general practicioners. She informs about indications and contraindications of phototherapy. In systemic therapy she presents the standard drugs and also the biologicals where the interdisciplinary cooperation in clinical and laboratory monitoring and potential interactions is needed.
