The aim of this paper is to provide information about the clinical usefulness of hybrid imaging modality positron emission tomography and computed tomography (FDG-PET/CT) in oncology. Patients with a known malignant disease and patients with a suspicion of malignancy represent the major part of our investigations. The hybrid system, combining a spiral computed tomograph (CT) and a dedicated positron emission tomography scanner (PET) provides both morphological and metabolic information at one investigation. This helps to increase the sensitivity and specificity of both imaging modalities and is very time-sparing.
