Zdravotní rizika v letecké dopravě

Letecká doprava je sice bezkonkurenčně nejbezpečnějším způsobem cestování, ale mnoha cestujícím – zdravým i nemocným – může zároveň přivodit významné zdravotní potíže nebo zhoršit jejich nemoc. Jakkoliv se absolutní počty takto postižených jedinců v porovnání s celkovými počty lidí přepravenými leteckými dopravci mohou zdát mizivé, pro všechny zúčastněné bývají velmi nepříjemné. Na vliv specifických fyzikálních faktorů letu připadá jen menší, byť významná část zdravotních obtíží; neméně důležitým a zároveň často přehlíženým provokačním zdrojem jsou psychologické komponenty letu. Proškolením lékařů v přípravě jejich pacientů na let a efektivní zdravotní osvětou obyvatelstva by bylo možno počet nežádoucích zdravotních obtíží na palubě dopravních letadel podstatně snížit.
