Secondary prevention of coleorectal cancer is focused on otherwise healthy idividuals. There are different laboratiory methods, imaging techniques and endocopic examinations used top screen the wide population. In most of the developed countries, including the Czech Republic, testing for faecal ocult blood is used as first line method. This examination should be routinely performed at the general practitioners office and is well accepted because of its noninvasiveness. Positive individuals undergo colonoscopy for establishment of diagnosis. Secondary prevention involves those, who are at increased risk of colorectal cancer. These patients are followed on a regular basis and as a part of the process, colonoscopy is included.
