Cough in the practice of the general practitioner

Cough is one of the most frequent symptoms that brings patients to see the doctor. It is one of the most common defence reflex mechanisms of human organism. The article describes a differentiation of individual forms of the cough according to occurrence, causes and diagnostic options with a focus on the chronic cough.
