Nucleotides as nutritional components essential for growth, regeneration and imunity

Increased intake of all food components including so called dietary (mono-, oligo-, and poly-) nucleotides (dNT), which are included in the form of DNA and RNA in all foodstuffs of animal or plant origin, is required during growth and ageing, infection and recovery. Importance of dNT as components of supplemented diets aimed for special purposes was proved for postnatal development and growth support (milk formulas), for regeneration and normalization of physiologic and immune functions during ageing, chronic diseases, and post-operative recovery (supplementation of selected foodstuffs). They are utilized for food production aimed for compensation of malnutrition in war, disaster areas, polluted regions, and for fortifying of immunity before anticipated epidemics (preventive supporting programs). Application of dNT into special food is in the consent with the WHO Program Health for All in the 21st Century (WHO 1998), which is targeted to minimalize the mortality to communicable and chronic (cardiovascular, neurodegenerative, and cancer) diseases, and moreover, to healthy ageing (improving of quality of life).

Keywords: Key words: dietary nucleotides (dNT), growth, regeneration, ageing, imunity.
