Drug interactions are the cause of much trouble to diabetic patients, especially because these people usually take continually more than one drug. In this paper drug interactions of antidiabetics, ACE-inhibitors (ACE-I), angiotensin receptor blockers (ARB) and statins are described. Hyperkalemia caused by ACE-I or ARB is augmented by co-prescription of spironolactone, which is in clinical praxis underestimated. Statins are metabolised by different enzymes P-450, so that their drug interactions are different. For example clarithromycin increase plasma levels of simvastatin, atorvastatin and lovastatin, but not of fluvastatin.
