Bleeding and it’s treatment - chalenge not only for the haematologist

Blood was associated with medicine since ever. Bleeding still belongs between the most frequent causes of death even in developed countries. Precise and timely diagnosis of the cause of the bleeding together with its efficient treatment is necessary, especially in cases where the bleeding is life-threatening. This text aims to review critically evidence available on the aetiology, pathogenesis and the treatment of such bleeding. Based on this evidence, general recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of life threatening bleeding are suggested.
