The sleep apnea syndrome is a disease connected with sleep but its consequences remain even in lucidity. A typical daily sign is the excessive
somnolence, especially during monotonous activities and microsleeps. At night the symptoms are snoring and apneas during sleep. The
consequences of untreated sleep apnea syndrome are not only medical (significant impact on cardiovascular system) but also socio-economic
– microsleeps may cause traffic accidents in drivers. Therefore a targeted investigation for this disease must be applied.
