Výskyt arteriální hypertenze je u diabetiků zejména 2. typu podstatně častější než u nediabetické

populace a její účinná léčba může významným způsobem přispět ke snížení

makro- i mikrovaskulárních komplikací u těchto pacientů. V článku podrobně diskutujeme

praktický přístup k léčbě arteriální hypertenze u pacientů s diabetem včetně cílových hodnot

krevního tlaku a algoritmu výběru vhodných antihypertenziv. Léčba arteriální hypertenze

je zde vysvětlována v kontextu dalších nezbytných nefarmakologických i farmakologických

opatření, jejichž kombinace může v konečném důsledku vést ke snížení kardiovaskulární

mortality diabetiků i výskytu mikrovaskulárních komplikací u těchto pacientů.
