Crural ulcer is defined as a chronic wound that is located on the lower extremities. It affects about 1 % of the productive population and
4–5 % of the population above 70 years. It is a chronic disease reducing all aspects of life quality. This review deals with the ethiology
and classification of wounds and is focused on the healing and therapy of crural ulcers.
