Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by symmetrical polyarthritis. A new classification criteria allowing
earlier diagnosis and initiation of treatment were published in 2010. The goal of RA treatment is to achieve clinical remission and to
prevent irreversible joint damage. Effective treatment probably also favorably affects increased mortality in patients with RA.
