Can complementary and herbal medicine help in treatment of diabetes mellitus?

Many diabetic patiens try to help themselves using complementary and alternative medicine preparations. In this review there are discussed

the most frequently over-the-counter sold products that could influence the glucose and lipid metabolism. Psyllium, Aloe vera,

Coccinia indica, Gymnema Sylvestre and Trigonella foenum – graecum have slight hypoglycaemic effect, cinnamon and Momordica

charantia influence the level of insulin resistance and garlic, green tea extract and ginkgo biloba extrakt decrease the total and LDL

cholesterol level.
