Insulin plays a crucial role in carbohydrate, lipid and protein metabolism. Insulin therapy is provided in different insulin regimens, the best one would mimic the physiological insulin secretion. Insulin preparations are solutions of human insulin with different time of effect or solutions of insulin analogues – preparations of insulin with slightly changed structure that causes their different qualities. Only injections are able to deliver insulin at this time but alternative delivery systems are tested, the inhaled insulin could be soon available for diabetic patients.

Strokes are typical complications of long-lasting hypertension and the treatment of high blood pressure decreases their incidence significantly. In patients with high risk for cardiovascular events, combination therapy with lower doses of metabolically neutral medication, especially dihydropyrimidine type calcium blockers and ACE inhibitors, appears to be the most suitable. Beta-blockers seem to be less effective especially in elderly patients. In patients who already underwent the stroke the antihypertensive therapy lowers the probability of recurrence and it is also in those whose blood pressure is considered normal according to valid classification....

The diagnostic work-up for thyroid disorders became advanced recently. However, it should be conducted, especially in a polymorbid patient, experienced clinician, who needs to communicate and cooperate with a laboratory specialist, because despite high sensitivity and specificity thyroid parameters are under different biological and pharmacological effects and also methodology artifact.
