The prevalence of prolactin secreting adenomas requiring treatment is estimated 600–700 per million inhabitants. The prevalence of all hyperprolactinemias, i.e. also of nonhypophyseal origin in nonselected population is estimated to be 0.4%. It can be encountered in a number of physiological states, with use of some medications, and it accompanies endocrinological and nonendocrinological diseases. Differential diagnoses of hyperprolactinemias may not be easy. Hyperprolactinemia causes infertility, menstrual cycle disorders with hypoestrinism and galactorhea in females and loss of libido and potency with decrease of testosterone secretion in males....

Increased intake of all food components including so called dietary (mono-, oligo-, and poly-) nucleotides (dNT), which are included in the form of DNA and RNA in all foodstuffs of animal or plant origin, is required during growth and ageing, infection and recovery. Importance of dNT as components of supplemented diets aimed for special purposes was proved for postnatal development and growth support (milk formulas), for regeneration and normalization of physiologic and immune functions during ageing, chronic diseases, and post-operative recovery (supplementation of selected foodstuffs). They are utilized for food production aimed for compensation...

In western countries low intake of fiber is connected with high incidence of coronary heart disease and colon cancer. Recommended daily allowance of fiber is about 25–30 grams, in American studies is daily intake of fiber about 15 g and recent Czech study showed only 12 grams daily. There is very difficult to distinguish the influence of lack of fiber, lack of vitamins and antioxidants, high energy intake and high intake of saturated fats. The results of intervention studies are inconsistent, but the increase of daily fiber intake leads to reduction of coronary heart attacks and coronary heart disease mortality, as well as of reduction...

Drug interactions are the cause of much trouble to diabetic patients, especially because these people usually take continually more than one drug. In this paper drug interactions of antidiabetics, ACE-inhibitors (ACE-I), angiotensin receptor blockers (ARB) and statins are described. Hyperkalemia caused by ACE-I or ARB is augmented by co-prescription of spironolactone, which is in clinical praxis underestimated. Statins are metabolised by different enzymes P-450, so that their drug interactions are different. For example clarithromycin increase plasma levels of simvastatin, atorvastatin and lovastatin, but not of fluvastatin.

Every 4–6th patient in primary care has skin problems. Their diversity and specificity are supported by age categories and its location that can be in some patients typical – so called predilection location. In the article I a review of dermatoses involving face and problems associated with acne vulgaris including therapeutic strategies are discussed. The second part of the article discusses several other facial dermatoses.
