MUDr.Jan Trna, MUDr.Oldřich Stibůrek, MUDr.Kateřina Klímová, MUDr.Martina Mišejková, MUDr.Jan Šlapák, MUDr.Oldřich Robek

Interní Med. 2010; 12(3): 145-147

Familial adenomatous polyposis primarily endangers its carriers with development of colonic cancer. However, the extracolonic involvement associated with this disease can also have serious consequences for patients. Recognition of a causal connection of extracolonic findings with the basic diagnosis of familial adenomatous polyposis can lead to early diagnosis and well-timed surgical treatment of asymptomatic patients without a family history of familial adenomatous polyposis and/or colorectal cancer. The article further proposes a system of patients follow-ups after successful surgical treatment.
